#IndiaDay2023: Celebration of Culture and FoodGujarati food is not just about satisfying hunger; it's an art form, a reflection of a way of life, and a connection to one's roots. Yesterday was one such day when residents of Finland got one more glimpse of the Gujarati way of life! India Day 2023 is a celebration of culture, heritage, and the joy of eating. Among the numerous vibrant festivals around Helsinki, the annual India Day celebration stands out as a delightful and culturally rich experience. It not only showcases the exquisite flavors of various states of India but also reflects the heartwarming traditions and hospitality of this country. Our state Gujarat, often referred to as the "Land of Legends and Lions," is known for its diverse and flavorful cuisine. Like every year, this year also Gujarati Samaj - Finland, ગુજરાતી સમાજ - ફિનલેન્ડ participated in India Day 2023. Some of our fellow Gujaratis were part of various committees whereas the others volunteered for the Gujarati Samaj Finland food stall. Weeks of planning and some sleepless nights went into freshly preparing home made dishes. One of the defining features of this festival is the sheer variety of dishes that Gujarati Samaj prepared. From the traditional Gujarati Thepla to mouth watering Dabeli there was everything for everyone.India Day provided a unique platform for classical dancers. A group of dedicated ladies prepared for weeks to dance on the traditional Gujarati Garba (don't miss the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKK3u7ZSG-g ). Garba performance received a huge round of applause from the vast audience. The performance not only entertained but also educated visitors about the rich cultural heritage of the state. At this point, we would like to thank -- Gujarati Samaj members, for their unending support and encouragement.- Customers, who appreciated our efforts and the dishes.
