At Gujarati Samaj Finland, we deeply value our roots and are committed to preserving and passing on our rich cultural heritage to the next generation. One of the ways we do this is by celebrating our festivals with joy, warmth, and community spirit — and this year’s Holi & Dhuleti celebration was a perfect example.
All the members gathered to celebrate the festival of colors with enthusiasm and vibrant energy. From young children to elders, everyone came together as one big family to rejoice in the traditions that make our culture so special. The celebration began with animated stories and short documentaries that beautifully narrated the significance of Holi — bringing to life the legends of Holika Dahan, Prahlad, and the colorful play of Lord Krishna.
The excitement picked up with a Holi Quiz designed especially for our younger members, sparking curiosity about our customs and legends. The grown-ups joined the fun too with a lively Bollywood-themed Kahoot, taking a nostalgic trip down memory lane with timeless Holi songs and movies.
In keeping with tradition, we held a symbolic Holika Poojan, followed by the distribution of Dhani-Khajoor prasad, embracing the spirit of gratitude and togetherness. Then came the most awaited part — playing with colors, laughter echoing through the air, and smiles all around as friends and families celebrated with gulal, love, and joy.
A major highlight of the day was the live thandai-making session. Members gathered around as traditional ingredients were blended into this refreshing, festive drink. It wasn’t just a treat to the taste buds, but also a beautiful way to pass on this timeless tradition to our younger generation. Everyone enjoyed a cool glass of thandai, freshly made with love and care. Of course, no Holi celebration is complete without food. Families bonded over a delicious spread of traditional snacks and sweets, sharing stories and laughter that made the day even more memorable.
Holi reminded us once again of the importance of community, culture, and the joy of sharing traditions across generations.
May your life always be filled with the vibrant colors of joy, love, and prosperity.
Gujarati Samaj Finland wishes you and your loved ones a very Happy Holi!
